Rubitection, led by Dr. Sanna Gaspard, is creating an AI-enabled assessment and management decision support platform for chronic wounds, including pressure injuries. The project addresses limitations in current manual and visual wound assessment methods, which can lead to inconsistent diagnoses and care disparities, particularly for people with darker skin tones. By applying machine learning to image and biometric data, Rubitection’s system aims to objectively classify wound severity and support clinicians in monitoring wound progression from early stages to advanced conditions. The technology builds on the Rubitect Assessment System to provide reliable, equitable wound care support.
