OXLABS is advancing habita, a home-based monitoring and communication service designed to extend the independence of older adults and individuals with disabilities. At the center of this system is the habitaHub, a self-contained multi-sensor device that detects environmental sounds, speech, and daily activity patterns. Data is processed through a cloud-based back end and delivered via a mobile app to keep caregivers informed and alerted to deviations in well-being. The technology integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) methods to establish personalized baselines of normal activity and refine detection accuracy. The OXLABS team brings broad technical expertise to the project. Leadership includes specialists in telecommunications, the Internet of Things (IoT), electronics engineering, and human-centered design, alongside a chief data scientist with experience in astronomy, commercial data science, and machine learning. Collectively, the team has founded successful technology ventures, led major projects in telecom and media, and received recognition for innovation in both the UK and global arenas. Together, they are focused on creating a transparent, non-intrusive monitoring solution that enhances communication and care for vulnerable populations.
